Can you use glass paint to paint Coffee Mugs?

I want to paint my mom some Coffee Mugs and i went to Michaels. I want to get a paint set with a bunch of different colors in small amounts because it would be cheaper than getting a lot of every color. But they dont sell ceramic paint in sets. Only glass paint.

The answer is YES… you can use glass paint to paint on glazed mugs. Be sure you bake it properly, as per the directions on the bottles. Usually starting with a cold oven, baking to 350 then cooling in the oven. I do it all the time.

And, YES you can also wash them in the dishwasher, if you have properly baked them. Again, I wash mine in the dish washer, and have for years and they are still just as beautiful as the day I painted them.

One word of advise that I paint by… I do not put paint in the “lip area” of the item I’m painting. I keep my design below 1/4″ from the top of the mug/cup/glass/goblet, or whatever item I’m painting. Just a safety measure since there is no information on yes or no of food safe.
