it’s local starbucks irony… can i get an explanation?
so a few of my local starbucks advertise in their stores about being eco-friendly. they are very very involved in the whole concept.
personally i don’t buy water bottles unless i really need to, i recycle my paper and such. i’m not a super environment protector but i do care.
now what i find ironic is that they sell their Coffee and teas all day in paper Cups with plastic lids that we find everyday in the garbage cans and on the side of the roads… why can’t people bring the aluminum water bottle concept and use it with a mug with coffee in the morning?
i just think it’s ironic that the people who are telling us that we need to recycle and that it’s our responsibility are the same ones who are fueling the “problem” they are trying to stop.
also the reuse of plastic breaks down the bonds and makes it less reliable… and i realize that too.
the hipocracy is really what is killing me.
My wife loves coffee (I can barely stand the stuff), and here favorite place (Lime Tree Expresso, Blossom Hill & Snell in San Jose – they could use the business) sells you a cup of coffe a little cheaper if you bring your own cup – and they don’t much worry about how big it is. Hey, they’re saving money on the cups, so it’s OK for them, we’re saving money. Her cup is a stainless steel vaccum bottle, too, so it doesn’t get hot and burn your hands, and your coffee stays hot for hours.
I’d hate to be labeled an ‘environmentalist,’ though.
Sometimes common sense and environmentalism converge, though.
