Can I turn a computer monitor into a mask?
In simple, I have been given a computer monitor, much like this; http://www.kiama.nsw.gov.au/environmental-Services/images/a-z-of-waste_image027.jpg
I’m sure you’ve all used one like it before. The big old fat ones.
I need to dismantle it, and hollow it out, leaving preferably just the screen and outer plastic, allowing it to be worn on a human head.
Much like this; http://www.chumpysclipart.com/images/illustrations/xsmall2/107_businessman_in_a_brown_suit_holding_a_cup_of_hot_coffee_with_a_computer_monitor_for_a_head.jpg
Is it safe? Is it simple? Are there any tutorials?
It’s for a photography project btw
Thanks all.
That doesn’t sound like the best idea in the world to use a real one, but the outer housing should come off fairly easy. This doesn’t include the screen.
If you want to leave the screen intact, you’d have to remove the back of the cathode ray tube from the front and the screen, which I DO NOT recommend due to the risks of electrocution (capacitors hold electrical charges for a long time, and the tube itself is a capacitor), implosion, or breaking the glass. The glass contains lead and phosphor compounds as well as small amounts of other heavy metals…
My recommendation: Take the outer skin/housing off and attach a 4:3 LCD screen that will fit on the front.
