How do you screenprint onto Ceramic Coffee Mugs?
Is it a form of screen printing? What do I need to do this at home for my own stuff? Thanks for your help!
Yes most mugs are screenprinted. They generally use a heat drying or ultraviolet hardening diazo ink.
Making the screens requires many specialized chemicals and a UV producing lightsource. For printing mugs they have special jigs that will roll the mug as you squeegee the ink.
It can be done at home but initial startup for equiptment etc. can be rather expensive.
I would get a book from the library to get a feel for how it works. There is more to learn about it than can be written here. Further, there are many online companies that can supply all the materials you will need.
I used to do it at home. I taught myself. But there is a lot to learn about it. You can also find out most of what you want to know by looking around online.
It is a lot of fun and yes, money can be made at it.
